Mercado Bitcoin, Latin America's leading digital asset platform and Brazil's first crypto exchange, is bringing Sui's assets into Brazil's regulated financial system, giving a wide base of users their first access to Sui in the region.
The exchange will offer SUI, USDC, and USDsui, letting its clients buy, sell, send, and receive assets on Sui for the first time. The integration also makes Sui Dollar (USDsui) eligible as collateral in Mercado Bitcoin's lending product.
Together, the companies are exploring how Hashi, the Sui’s native bitcoin orchestration layer for institutions, could be incorporated into Mercado Bitcoin’s existing lending products, expanding the ways Brazilian investors can use Bitcoin. The companies will also bring Mercado Bitcoin’s tokenized real-world assets to Sui, extending the partnership beyond digital assets into new financial products.
Mercado Bitcoin operates one of the most complete regulatory footprints in the Brazilian digital asset market, with 10 regulatory licenses across Brazil and Europe, including authorization from the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) as a payment institution and from the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) as a securities broker. As a licensed payment institution, the company is natively integrated with Pix, Brazil's instant payment system, enabling clients to convert between Brazilian reais (BRL) and US dollar-denominated stablecoins in real time.
The company is also building cross-border rails into the US and Portugal, two of Brazil's most relevant remittance corridors, and is registered with the Banco de Portugal for exchange and custody services.
Sui and Mercado Bitcoin are also exploring pairing Hashi with Mercado Bitcoin's tokenized real-world asset platform on Sui. Together, these efforts lay the groundwork for deeper Sui utility in the region beyond the initial listings and payment rails, and for broader adoption of Hashi and Bitcoin finance in Brazil.
A regulated pathway into Brazil's payment infrastructure
Mercado Bitcoin's status as a licensed payment institution under the BCB means its PIX integration provides Sui with a direct, regulated path between Brazilian reais and onchain assets in real time. This makes Mercado Bitcoin the first exchange in Brazil to support Sui asset transfers, connecting Sui to one of the region's most widely used payment systems.
“Brazil is a financial cornerstone throughout South America and the globe, and key to Sui’s next phase of sustained growth,” said Adeniyi Abiodun, Co-Founder and CPO of Mysten Labs, the original contributor to Sui. “Mercado Bitcoin is the country’s dominant digital asset platform, bringing listings, payments, Bitcoin, and real-world assets to millions of clients. It's hard to imagine a better fit for where Sui is headed next."
“Millions of people across Brazil now have access to Sui through Mercado Bitcoin,” said Roberto Dagnoni, Chairman of Mercado Bitcoin and CEO of 2TM. "We have spent more than a decade building a regulated foundation for digital assets in Brazil, with authorizations from both the Central Bank and the CVM, and the Pix integration gives our clients a direct path between reais and crypto. We're extending that reach through the rails we're building into the US and Portugal. Bringing Sui onto that infrastructure means opening a new network to millions of Brazilians inside a regulated environment."
Hashi and Bitcoin Finance for Mercado Bitcoin's clients
Mercado Bitcoin is exploring integrating Hashi, Sui's native Bitcoin finance primitive designed to let Bitcoin holders lend and borrow against BTC directly onchain, without wrappers or synthetic versions of the asset. Hashi's global testnet is live, and mainnet is expected this month. Any product built on this integration would be subject to Mercado Bitcoin's internal governance and to the applicable Brazilian regulatory framework, and no offering is available at this time.
A comprehensive real-world asset platform, coming to Sui
Mercado Bitcoin will bring its tokenized real-world asset platform onto Sui, creating one of the region’s most comprehensive RWA offerings, and one of the few globally where retail and institutional investors can access the same regulated asset classes side by side. Since beginning tokenization operations in 2019, the platform has issued more than 800 tokenized assets, spanning instruments such as receivables, structured credit, consortium quotas, and real estate, giving retail investors fractional access to opportunities historically concentrated among institutional participants. Unlike platforms that rely on third parties, Mercado Bitcoin originates, structures, and tokenizes these assets in-house. Its public offerings are distributed under the CVM's regulatory framework for offerings through digital participatory investment platforms (Resolution CVM 88), with secondary trading governed by Resolution CVM 135.
Because these assets sit on the same platform as Mercado Bitcoin's PIX-integrated on/off-ramp, investors aren't just gaining access to new asset classes, they can move seamlessly between Brazilian reais and tokenized real-world assets instantly and 24/7, bypassing the settlement windows typical of traditional Brazilian investment products.
Sui's object-centric model gives builders a foundation to make assets, permissions, and data programmable, supporting direct, compliant infrastructure without wrapped or third-party instruments. Borrowing against BTC to invest in RWAs mirrors patterns Mercado Bitcoin's clients already know, and, with Hashi, using Bitcoin as collateral to access these markets could become a natural extension of how they already invest today.
Part of Sui’s growing stablecoin momentum
The Mercado Bitcoin integration lands as Sui's stablecoin activity continues to accelerate. Stablecoin transfers are now fee-free at the protocol level on Sui, letting clients send supported stablecoins, including USDC and USDsui, without paying gas or holding a separate token. Additionally, Sui has settled over $1T in stablecoin transfer volume in the last 12 months, according to network data. Mercado Bitcoin's access to Sui assets extends that momentum into one of the world's fastest-growing markets for digital assets.
Extending Sui's reach into Europe
Because Mercado Bitcoin also operates a licensed exchange and custody business in Portugal, Mercado Bitcoin Portugal, with a MiCA application in progress, this partnership extends Sui's presence to Mercado Bitcoin Portugal as well, giving the partnership a foothold in both the Brazilian and European markets through a single relationship.
